Danny, son of Marshall & Mae, September 5, 1943 – October 24, 1943
(No headstone; information obtained from the child’s death certificate which lists his place of burial as “Weymouth, Ohio”. The October 26, 1943 edition of the Gazette (pg. 6) confirms his burial in this cemetery. A Rita Frantz told Susan McKiernan of the Weymouth Preservation Society that she would take her mother Mae Dreibelbis a few times a year to visit Danny’s grave. At the time of his death the trustees would not allow a new grave due to not having a plat so Danny had to be buried on top of an existing grave. According to Rita he is buried “on a Tompkins grave that is right in the center; a short stone that is square that comes to a point at the top.” This description matches the headstone for Marshall and Mary Tompkins.)

POTTER
Charles W., adopted son of Selden B. & Sarah E. Welton “C.W.P.”
who departed this life May 27, 1839, aged 20 years 10 mos 27 days
* – per the April 24, 1891 edition of the Medina County Gazette (Jacob R. Welton’s obituary):
“….he was married again to Loretta Warner of Liverpool. Of this union there were three children, all of whom died rather young. His second wife died in 1852, and was buried in Weymouth Cemetery.”
From this we know that Loretta was buried in this cemetery. A broken fragment of a headstone has been found at the cemetery which shows part of a name “ETTA” along with “ife of” and “ELTON”. The fragment must be part of her headstone. There are two bases on this lot that do not have a headstone. One must certainly be for Loretta while the other must be for the third of the children that passed away at a young age.

* – “Erected by W.H.H. Potter to the memory of father, mother, daughter & uncle, 1886”
NOTE: Sally also has a headstone on Lot 33. Samuel does appear in the 1820 Medina census as living in the Weymouth area and may well be buried in Indian Point. The location of John’s secondary marker suggests he is buried on Lot 87.

* – the Greer children have no headstones and are presumed buried in this cemetery. The 1900 Medina census shows Loyal and Margaret as having lost two children already. Birth and death records have turned up the two children listed above but a third one must exist since Clifton died after 1900. James died in Medina and Clifton died in Weymouth. James is listed as `James A.’ on his birth record.

Marzy Van, died February 15, 1895, aged 73 years
(No headstone; information obtained from his death record and the February 28, 1895 edition of the Medina County Gazette (pg. 1) under Weymouth news tells that he was “brought here for burial”. The date and age at death are from his death record. The 1840 and 1850 censuses for Medina Township seem to suggest that he was a son of George and Theda. We assume he is buried on this lot.)

Other known burials…
The following individuals are known to be buried here from their headstones which have been found laying at the perimeter of the cemetery.
GARRETT (stone is broken pieces)
( ), (wife/child?) of ( ) (Pieces found on western boundary.)
died ???, 185?, (aged) ?0 yrs (?) 21ds
UNKNOWN?
Child’s stone: “Little ?????” (rest unreadable) (Stone found near northeast corner.)
BURDOIN
Mark, died (rest broken off) (Stone found on northern boundary.)
(He is age 49 in the 1850 Medina census. He must have died by 1852 as his wife remarries then to John L. Seymour.)
The following individuals are known to be buried in this cemetery based on the given evidence:
SANFORD
Phoebe, former wife of J. Seymour, died May 13, 1835, AE. 83y
(Headstone inscription from “Early Deaths In Weymouth” list of Winifred Wolcott. Wolcott makes no mention at all of Indian Point so it must have been a visible headstone in this cemetery.)
SEYMOUR
Lathrop, died 1835, aged 49 years
(Mention in Wolcott’s “Early Deaths In Weymouth” but she stated he had no headstone.)
PAINTER
Hellen M., wife of Thomas W., died December 6, 1917, aged 90 years
(Longacre Funeral Home Records (Book 3, pg. 134) tell of her death in Minneapolis, Minnesota and burial in Weymouth, Ohio. Marriage records show that Helen M. Kingsbury married Thomas W. Painter on October 18, 1849. In the 1870 Medina census she is listed as Thomas’ wife and the age of 43 years which would have made her about 90 years old when she died. The December 14, 1917 edition of the Gazette (pg. 8) confirms her age at death but says she died December 7 and was buried in Spring Grove Cemetery. Spring Grove records make no mention of her and she has no headstone there. Presumably, she is buried on either Lot 25 or 26 here at Weymouth.)
CORP
Albert A., May 30, 1854 – June 26, 1927
(Per death certificate which lists his place of burial as “Weymouth, Ohio”.)
BRICKER
Edna Ann, daughter of Steve & Alice, June 1, 1933 – Janary 25, 1934
(Per death certificate which lists place of burial as “Weymouth, Medina Co.”. Remnants of a funeral home marker which read only “EDNA ANNE” was once laying on Lot 81 but has since disappeared.)
BUETTINGER
Harry, April 18, 1886 – November 6, 1941
(Per death certificate which lists his place of burial as “Weymouth, Ohio”.)
CORP
Roland Linn, son of Harold & Marian, November 22, 1944 – November 24, 1944
(Per death certificate which lists his place of burial as “Weymouth”.)
BUETTINGER
Daisy, wife of Harry, September 27, 1884 – July 4, 1951
(Per death certificate which lists her place of burial as “Weymouth Cem.”. She and her husband are possibly buried on Lot 97 since she is a daughter of Jud & Margaret Greer.)
CORP
Elsie Estelle, infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Albert Corp, died July 24, 1965
(July 26, 1965 Medina Gazette, pg. 10)
Formerly buried here…
WILBUR
Warren F., Co. I 29th O.V.I., July 19, 1839 – May 16, 1863
(He is now buried in Section 4, Lot 96 of Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina, Ohio. Their records list him as “removed from Weymouth” and reinterred there in May of 1893. Dates and military information are from his tombstone at Spring Grove.)
HART
Polly, wife of James H., died February 28, 1880
(She is now buried in Section 1, Lot 36 of Spring Grove Cemetery in Medina, Ohio. Their records list as Mrs. J.H. Hart as “removed from Weymouth” and reinterred there on October 13, 1914. She has no headstone. The March 19, 1880 edition of the Gazette (pg. 3) tells about her death under the Weymouth News and provides her date of death. The 1880 Medina census shows a James H. Hart, age 35 – without a wife but with several children – who looks to be a match as her husband.)
